I’m an artist and an author with a home office. I had been using a high end, toner-based, HP printer, and when the time came to replace it I looked over all the options. This Samsung CLP-315 does a great job for the money. Easy setup and the toner cartridges are much lower than the HP. I’m very happy with the accuracy of the color output. It is MAC compatible, which is another reason I went for it. I don’t use it for photographs, I have an inkjet for those.

I purchased one about a year ago and about a month later it started making a thumping noise and then very shortly after it quit. Customer service was great and I quickly had a replacement. About 8 months later it started to randomly cycle, like it was warming up. I didn’t really think about it, but didn’t print anything for a couple of days. When I finally was ready the machine would not print. Again customer service sent me a return tag and a refurbished model was sent to replace it. For thepast couple of weeks it has been running great, but now I have owned it for over a year I most likely will have to buy a new one when it dies.

Otherwise, quality is great, I only use it for document and don’t print pictures with it.

Beware the cost of toner for this thing. I got it for about $120 about 4 months ago, and it’s now out of toner. The color toner costs around $90, but that doesn’t include the black toner, which you can only get in a 2-pack and it costs another $70. So if you get this printer, be prepared to take it to Best Buy for recycling, and buy another printer for half the cost of new toner.

I have had this printer for just over a year and use it fairly often (I’m on my second set of ink cartridges). I was pretty happy with the printer except it seems to take a long time to ‘warm up’. But recently I started getting a paper jam error on every page. The paper feeds properly but for some reason the Sammsung reports it as a jam. The page prints about half way and stops. I’ve been looking on the web for a solution and it appears it is a very common proplem with this printer.

This printer is a good deal. The only draw back is, that it is slow at printing. Also, I purchased this refurbished. The seller receives the printers directly from Samsung and mine was in bad shape when I received it. It was missing the little black rubber footies on the bottom of the printer, so ti wobbles a little bit, and the toner cartridges were already installed in it, and during shipping toner got all over in the inside of the box. I would definitely buy this printer brand new and not refurbished. Luckily the company that I purchased this from gave me a 20% discount on the product, since it came to me in bad shape. But over all this is a good little printer.
